I had heard John Pizzarelli's recording of "I LIke Jersey Best" on XM satellite radio, channel 73, and immediately fell in love with it. I am not from New Jersey, but have come to appreciate it during many visits or pass-throughs over the years. I think it gets a bad rap. It is not just refineries seen from the Turnpike. And yet, I don't think I've ever before heard a song about the Garden State. I searched for and found the recording on Amazon, and found that the rest of the CD was wonderful, too. Pizzarelli's voice is gentle, and the songs (many of which I've never heard before) are charming. The price was a bit high, though, as I suspect the CD is out of print.
